The Art of Chris Merrick is un-conventional and very dynamic.It is known as Reverse Glass Art because you paint on the backside of the glass that is used in the frame. Unlike standard canvas paintings where you paint the finishing touches over the colors that you have painted earlier, Reverse Glass Art is done completely backwards. The first thing you paint onto the glass is what you want to be visible on top. Then the next layers of colors are applied. The very last thing you paint is the deep black of space. This process takes a lot of careful planning and foresight to pull it off effectively. Chris has been painting in this format for the past 4 years and is continually creating new images and visions of space. And of course a background in engineering and robotics, is always helpful when creating a new art form such as this. Chris lives in the foot hills of Grass Valley with his wife and two young children.
