"Zotacus" Abstract Sculpture by Daryl Stokes-SOLD Dynamic, tall abstract wood sculpture with integrated redwood burl formations uniquely interwoven with boldly contrasting polished geometric burl wood designs. The angular multi faceted wood components project upward and out of the contorted natural burl forms which also protrude from their geometric counterparts. As the viewer observes the sculpture from various positions, the personality of the sculpture changes remarkably. Each viewing angle reveals surprisingly new aspects. The smooth faceted components have been derrived from exotic redwood burls with richly colorful grain formations and natural irredescence. The sculpture has been treated with a clear oil finish and all of the colors are also natural. This unique wood sculpture has been composed predominately from the underground stump and root portions of redwood trees which have been sectioned and carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further enhance the forms. Each sculpture is totally one of a kind and cannot be duplicated. All of the natural redwood used to create these sculptures has been salvaged from fallen trees which have been victimized from winter storms, landslides or forest fires, therefor no living trees have been utilized.
