"The Diva" Abstract Redwood Sculpture by Daryl Stokes Dramatic tall abstract redwood sculpture with an exotic flare and suggestive of an energetic female celebrity wearing a lavish head dress. The diva figure leans forward with deliberation thrusting a bold arm-like extension that gestures upward, simulating the pose of a rock star performing in front of an audience. The sculpture has been composed with an intriguing series polished angular wood components that have contrasting gnarled burl wood accented areas creating a dynamic visual appearance. This contemporary redwood sculpture has been designed with numerous redwood burls which have been sectioned and carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further embellish the forms. The wood components have been thoroughly sprayed with a durable clear oil and hand rubbed, producing a matt finish which reveals all the natural colors and exotic grain patterns. Due to the inherent nature of redwood burl, each sculpture is totally unique and cannot be duplicated. All of the natural redwood used to create these sculptures has been salvaged from fallen trees which have been victimized from winter storms, landslides or forest fires, therefor no living trees have been utilized.
