In 2009, Swarovski introduces a new theme group in their Crystal Living Collection called the CHINESE ZODIAC Animals. The first in this collection are the Dog, Tiger, and Horse. Chinese Zodiac Seals: Each of the Swarovski Chinese Zodiac Animals carries a special seal engraved on its crystal base, describing the product and its name in traditional Chinese and English. Seals originated during the Qin Dynasty in 221 BB and were exclusively used by the Emperor as a form of signature. Today, seal scripts are still widely used as as signatures and some documents are not considered legally binding until they are signed with a seal. In the case of the new Zodiac Collection, the seal not only bears the name of the piece but also carries the information on the "earthly branches". Earthly branches are parts of the Chinese Calendar and determine the order and dates of the 12 Zodiac singles in their 12-year cycle.
