After the piece has been gold-plated (a two-stage process in the case of many designs) the area to be pave-set is first galvanized with rhodium to further underscore the brilliance of the crystal stones, and then the stone-setter gets to work hand- positioning full cut Swarovski crystal stones in a mesmerizing range of colors, shapes and sizes (Fig. 7). Some pieces in the Swarovski Jeweler's Collection have as many as 1500 tiny chaton stones.
