"Pre-Eminent Position"Abstract Redwood Wall Sculpture by Daryl Stokes Dramatic redwood wall sculpture composed of a dominant, angled wood form with a long sharp projectile, securely positioned on the top of an interwoven configuration of polished geometric designs with sinuous, organic redwood counterparts. The bold, angled wood figure hovers in a commanding position above the residing designs mounted below. This abstract redwood wall sculpture has been designed with numerous redwood burls which have been sectioned and carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further embellish the forms. The wood components have been thoroughly sprayed with a durable clear oil and hand rubbed, producing a matt finish which reveals all the natural colors and exotic grain patterns. Due to the inherent characteristics of redwood burl, each wall sculpture is totally unique and cannot be duplicated. All of the natural redwood used to create these sculptures has been reclaimed the underground portions from fallen trees which have been victimized from winter storms, landslides or forest fires, therefor no living trees have been utilized.
