Green, red-eyed Tree Frog on Black Rock by Stuart Abelman Stuart Abelman: Artist, designer and master craftsman, Stuart Abelman is one of a small group of glassblowers who started the art glass studio movement in the United States. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stuart attended Carnegie-Mellon University where he received his BFA in painting and sculpture. He completed his graduate work at UCLA with an MFA in glass. Stuart simultaneously completed his graduate exhibit, was a UCLA teaching assistant and ran the glass department at El Camino College. He started Abelman Art Glass in 1977. As one of the pioneering leaders in the art glass movement that began in the mid 1960's, Stuart found it a welcome challenge to help bring recognition and appreciation to what had been an all but lost art form.
