This glass “Sweeping Heart” was designed with the intent of sweeping a loved one off their feet. The fluid sweeping motion of this heart, created by hand in clear borosilicate glass moves all the way down and continues until it reaches before its black wooden base and almost touched the ground. This glass Valentines Heart, celebrates the history and tradition of Valentines day.

In 498 A.D. Pope Gelasius declared February 14, Valentines Day, to honor St. Valentine. Legend has it that St. Valentine was a priest from the third century in Rome during the reign of Emperor Claudius II. The Emperor outlawed marriage for young men thinking that they would make better soldiers if they didn't have wives or family. St. Valentine, recognizing this injustice, defied the Emperor and continued to wed young lovers in secret. Upon discovery St. Valentine was jailed. While in prison, he fell in love with the jailor's daughter and wrote her a love letter signed “From your Valentine”. Since this glass heart is completely created by hand, no two will ever be exactly alike. This ensures that this gift will be as unique and special as the recipient.
This glass heart is engraved with the Frabel logo in the peg and bears the registered signature of the Frabel Studio, “FS” in embossed glass.
