"Expanding Awareness" Redwood Abstract Sculpture by Daryl Stokes-SOLD Intriguing abstract redwood sculpture which combines boldly faceted geometric designs with contorted organic flowing forms. As the broad pyramidical base thrusts upward, the forms become progressively more dramatic and provocative. The apex of the sculpture suggests an outward emotional expression stemming from an internal reaction within the structure. Viewing the sculpture from different angles reveals the diverse personality of this design and you might see impressions of animals, birds and other fantasies depending on your imagination. This abstract sculpture has been composed with individual redwood burls which have been carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further enhance the forms. Each sculpture is totally unique and cannot be duplicated. After taking a 10 year sabatical, Daryl has resumed creating magnificant abstract redwood sculptures. No living trees have been cut to create these works of art. In fact, Daryl has given new life, in the form of sculpture, to trees who have succumbed to the harsh winds of winter storms, lighting, landslides and other natural occurrences. As the viewer walks around the sculpture, it becomes apparent that the personality of sculpture changes remarkably, revealing new characteristics with each viewing angle. This abstract sculpture has been composed with individual redwood burls which have been carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further enhance the forms.
