Since opening his studio in the early 1980s, Joel Bloomberg has created a wide variety of functional and sculptural works. Throughout this time he has sought to design objects that expand the vocabulary of art glass, and to use materials in new and unexpected ways. This latest series of Jellyfish Lamps reflects these goals as tabletop-and chandelier-illuminated sculptures. Each piece requires a combination of blown forms, coldworking, polishing and a lamination process that he has developed over the years. The density of colors can range through a whole spectrum depending on the time of day, direction of light or its own internal illumination. His work is found in private and corporate collections in North America, Europe and Japan

As all of Joel's pieces are handmade, colors and shapes of his individual Jellyfish lamps may vary slightly.
