Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has presented Barry's scupltures to heads of state on his travels abroad. Sharing the beauty of Mother Nature is the focus behind the works of Barry Stein. His unique carvings depicting beautiful wildlife highlight his sensitivity and demonstrate his appreciation of all that is Nature. A self-taught artist from the Pacific Northwest, Barry continually challenges himself with various artistic mediums. With a clear understanding of animals' behavior and anatomy; Barry blends his artistic talents with the intrinsic beauty of wood to create a stunning composition. He spends countless hours in the wild researching and collecting material that inspires his intense love for nature. Barry's latest focus has come to creating exquisite sense in wood sculpture, to be "lost wax" cast in Bronze. "Carving the original sculpture in wood, rather than from clay, results in much greater detail." Says Barry "Of course, this means you have to cut it right the first time; clay allows you to easily redo parts of a composition."
