Artists & DesignersSieglinde Anna Widmann (Frabel Studios) hails from Jena in the former East Germany. Born during the latter part of the Nazi era, she grew up in Communist East Germany and has a degree as a scientific glass blower at the legendary Jena Glaswerke. She entered West Germany through Berlin just before the erection of the infamous Berlin Wall.She joined the scientific glass blowing staff at Schott in Mainz in West Germany and worked there along side Hans-Godo Fräbel making precision laboratory instruments out of boron glass rods and tubes. She married Klaus Widmann (also with the Fräbel Studio) and the two immigrated to Louisiana (USA) and remained there for about a year before coming to Atlanta in 1964 to work with Hans-Godo who was then a partner in the glassblowing laboratory of Don Lillie. About three years after Hans-Godo struck out on his own and formed his own studio, Sieglinde Anna joined him and has been with him since 1982. She is now chief of the artisans and is responsible for the training of apprentices and for the general management of the studio staff. Other Featured Artists:
