His unique carvings depicting beautiful wildlife highlight his sensitivity and demonstrate his appreciation of all that is Nature. A self-taught artist from the Pacific Northwest, Barry continually challenges himself with various artistic mediums. With a clear understanding of animals' behavior and anatomy; Barry blends his artistic talents with the intrinsic beauty of wood to create a stunning composition. He spends countless hours in the wild researching and collecting material that inspires his intense love for nature.
Barry's latest focus has come to creating exquisite sense in wood sculpture, to be "lost wax" cast in Bronze. "Carving the original sculpture in wood, rather than from clay, results in much greater detail." Says Barry "Of course, this means you have to cut it right the first time; clay allows you to easily redo parts of a composition." Accuracy is one technique Barry has mastered because of carving horn for so many years!
Through his innate love of wildlife and creative mastery, Barry has emerged as one of the Pacific Northwest's premier artist. His work can be seen in galleries and private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
It is Barry's desire to inspire in all people the necessity to protect and preserve our wonderful environment and its wildlife!
